Grant-Seeking Tips
- Upon initial approach to the Foundation please submit a Pre-Grant Request form. Foundation staff will notify you if and when a personal meeting is required. If your organization has received a grant previously from the Foundation and would like to apply for another grant, please submit a concept paper and/or executive summary.
- Read and follow all instructions for submission of grant application carefully. Incomplete or improperly completed applications will be returned for correction.
- Staff is available to answer questions about processes and guidelines; however, we discourage detailed discussion of projects by phone.
- Applicants are encouraged to submit draft applications for review before final copies are submitted for formal consideration.
- Limit answers to space provided both in the pre-grant request and the formal application.
- The organization’s mission as well as the goals and objectives of the project for which funding is being sought are of primary importance to the Foundation. These will be a crucial part of the application evaluation.
- The Foundation strongly discourages trustee solicitation.
- Organizations should recognize that although a project may appear to meet all of the criteria to ensure approval of an application, the Board of Trustees must select among numerous applications those that meet the certain program focus and specific initiatives of the Foundation.
