Funding Areas
Quality of Life
Based upon James Graham Brown's desire to elevate Louisville and Kentucky's national image, the Foundation's vision is that the Louisville region will become a community of choice for families and businesses, focusing on three key areas:
- Neighborhood Development/Revitalization and Economic Development: The Brown Foundation is committed to neighborhood revitalization and a thriving downtown. Downtown development and building community in collaboration with businesses, community development organizations and academic institutions are part of a regional strategy to promote economic growth and to build strong neighborhoods.
- 21st Century Jobs: The Brown Foundation supports initiatives that strengthen the relationship between business and education to increase growth in human capital and jobs in higher wage, higher knowledge, and high technical areas.
- Human Services & Culture: The Brown Foundation believes there is a great need to remain responsive to direct requests from the community which address human services and cultural needs. We give priority to projects that increase the quality, effectiveness and impact of nonprofit organizations and promote or support partnerships and collaboration.
Education
The Brown Foundation believes that dramatic improvements in education at all levels are crucial to improving the economic vitality of Louisville and Kentucky. We support organizations and initiatives that have the potential for high impact on the Foundation's three education focus areas:

- Higher Education
- Broad Education Improvement Initiatives
